Governor Beshear holding Town Hall meetings on state budget

Governor Beshear has announced a series of Town Hall Meetings and Press Conferences to discuss options for addressing the $456 million deficit in the state budget. The meeting schedule is as follows:

Our view: It is important that advocates for building a healthier Kentucky attend the Governor’s meeting in your area. Please be vocal in supporting the win-win-win of significantly raising the cigarette excise tax! WIN in reducing smoking, particularly among youth. WIN in increasing revenue to the state at a particularly needy time. WIN in reflecting the support of a majority of Kentuckians who favor increasing the tax, particularly in using the revenue for health including tobacco prevention and smoking cessation.
