KCHIP Applications Available at State Fair
Aug 18th, 2009

Parents visiting to the Kentucky State Fair this month can learn about eligibility guidelines to receive health insurance for their children.
At the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services’ (CHFS) exhibit, staff of the Kentucky Children’s Health Insurance Program (KCHIP) will be on hand every day to provide applications and answer questions about the program. KCHIP is free or low cost health insurance for children under the age of 19 who do not have health insurance and whose family income is below 200 percent of the federal poverty level. For example, a family of four can earn up to $44,100 a year.
CHFS’ exhibit will be located in the Louisville Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center’s South Wing B. Children can stop at the KCHIP area for a colorful bracelet and other goodies. Parents and caregivers can ask questions of expert staff. The fair runs Thursday, Aug. 20, through Sunday, Aug. 30 and exhibit buildings are open daily from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
