Kentucky Legislation Relating to KVH Initiatives

 

Now that the 2010 Kentucky General Assembly has wrapped up its first five days of work, several pieces of legislation have been filed that relate to the 2010 initiatives adopted by Kentucky Voices for Health.  The following bills bear watching (click on the bill number to go to the Legislative Research Commission summary of the legislation, which includes a link to the full text and indicates the current status of the legislation).

Require CHFS to develop an employer wellness project model and certification process for employer programs. Provide tax credits for qualifying employer wellness programs

 

HB 52

Wuchner

The Healthy Kids Act—requires school council wellness policies to provide for at least 30 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity at least 150 minutes per week and establishes a reporting mechanism for physical activities in schools.

Harper Angel

Require Medicaid smoking cessation programs or treatment or pregnant smokers to be in accordance with CDC protocols and guidelines

Harper Angel

Urge the Governor to include funding for Medicaid-approved smoking cessation programs in his 2010-2012 Executive Branch budget proposal
