Kaiser Updates Resources on Health Coverage and the Uninsured to Include Latest Census Data
The Kaiser Family Foundation has updated its resources on health coverage and the uninsured to reflect new data released in September by the
The Uninsured: A Primer: Reviews the basic profile of the uninsured population, how they receive care, the latest trends in health insurance coverage, key issues in increasing coverage and basic statistics on the uninsured. More detailed breakdowns are available in supplemental data tables.
An online chartbook on health coverage and the uninsured, part of the Foundation's Kaiser Fast Facts located at http://facts.kff.org/. It provides a more comprehensive profile of the uninsured and health insurance coverage overall, including downloadable PowerPoint figures and Excel tables for the nonelderly population, children, nonelderly adults and working adults. Figures are provided for important social and economic determinates of health such as age, gender, family income and work status, education, citizenship and race, among others. The chartbook slides can be used to create customized PowerPoint slideshows to download or print.
The updated Health Coverage & Uninsured section of the Kaiser web site, which includes data on the health insurance status of state populations and demographic information for those who are uninsured, have employer-based insurance, or Medicaid, including state-by-state changes in coverage since 2005. The updated Demographics and the Economy section includes basic information about each state's residents, including breakdowns of the population by age, gender, race/ethnicity, income and employment. The site's interactive Medicaid and Children's Health fact sheets have also been updated with the latest data.
